Since December 31st, we have been experiencing a winter like hasn't been seen for many years. Frost reaching -20 degrees, a dozen or so, and in places even several dozen centimeters of snow, and on top of that, forecasts of severe frosts for the coming days. Although such conditions may cause trouble for some, this weather also has its advantages.
The first of them is, of course, the beautiful views, bright and colorful mornings, and spectacular sunsets. The second is the hydration of the earth, which we need very much. When the thaw comes, the water from the melting snow will gradually soak into the soil instead of running off violently as after heavy rain.
An additional advantage of such a winter is its impact on nature. A thick layer of snow acts like a natural blanket, protecting the soil and the root systems of plants from deep freezing. The frosts persisting for over 20 days also favor the natural reduction in the number of pests and pathogens that are unable to survive such a long period of severe cold. Thanks to this, in the spring the environment can enter the new season in better condition.
