Thanks to your support, we were able to purchase a new server, which will be responsible for 24/7 transmission from the stork's nest and additional services related to the project.

The transmission works around the clock. The signal from two webcams goes via the internet to our server, and then the server sends the image to YouTube, from where the transmission can also be watched on our website.

The server not only receives and sends images, but also performs several other useful tasks. Every day, automatically created are timelapse videos from both cameras, which are then published on YouTube. The whole process is handled by a specially written script that manages the transmission itself, monitors its operation, reacts to errors, restarts the transmission in case of problems, and is responsible for creating and publishing timelapse videos. Thanks to this, the transmission has been running continuously for many months - the only exceptions are power outages or internet problems.

The previous computer worked continuously for many years, so it was necessary to replace the equipment with new, more efficient hardware prepared for 24/7 operation. The new server will allow us to maintain stable transmission for years to come and will increase the security of stored materials.

The total purchase cost was 2088,41 zł.

Other components, such as hard drives and some additional equipment, come from our private hardware and were not purchased from the fundraiser.

The new server will also allow us to launch our own photo hosting related to storks on our website. This will work similarly to popular photo-sharing services, but without ads and without using external platforms. Photos can be added and shared for free, and everything will run directly on our server.
