Another exciting season in Trzciniec has ended. Przepiórek and Trzcinka are already on their way to the wintering grounds. We will be waiting for them next year!...
Today a storm with a downpour moved over Trzciniec. When the weather calmed down, the hosts returned to the nest. The storks dried and cleaned their feathers....
Other storks visit Przepiórek and Trzcinka's nest. On the morning of 17.08, a stork with a black ring flew into Przepiórek and Trzcinka's nest. It felt right at home! It cleaned the nest, stood for a while, and flew away. It returned later, but Przepiórek stepped in and drove the intruder away. Today, foreign young storks also visited the nest.Rodzynek did not sleep in the nest; maybe he is already on his way to Africa....
Rodzynek is leaving the nest more and more often, which means he is doing better and better. He still flies back to the nest for the night....
Unsuccessful flight attempts temporarily kept Rodzynek in the nest. He is already big enough for more independence, but his parents gave him a bit of food. The young stork finally gathered his courage and began leaving the nest for short periods....
The little stork who started flying last appeared in the nest only after two days from the first takeoff. He didn't leave the nest, perhaps not feeling confident after an unsuccessful flight. This young stork is missing all flight feathers, which certainly makes flying difficult. However, he doesn't give up and continues to practice....
Success! The second little stork went on its first flight....
Our boćki have their first flights behind them! One "non-flyer" remains in the nest, called Rodzynek, but another moment and he will also fly. For now, the little stork is training hard....
Time for exercises! Storks use windy days to train intensely. They flap their wings and jump, all to best prepare for their first flights....
Today, for the first time in Trzciniec, young storks were ringed. The procedure was carried out thanks to the courtesy of PGE and the ringer Kamil Piwowarczyk. Sincere thanks to everyone involved and supporters of the nest! On this occasion, the nest was also cleaned of unnecessary items. The storks received rings: K4101, K4103, K4106, K4140....
The young have grown and spend more and more time alone in the nest. It is very warm and the chicks need cooling. Parents don't fail their charges – they not only feed and water them but also cool them with water....
The little ones are growing fast and are increasingly curious about the world. They spend days in the nest with one of the parents and eagerly await meals....
Four heads are already sticking out of the nest. Parents are carefully caring for the offspring, and the young are growing fast on the stork diet....
Though hard to see on the stream, there are definitely four chicks in the nest. Welcome to the world!...
There are definitely three chicks in the nest! Perhaps a fourth as well. Parents are diligently caring for the offspring....
It is still unknown how many chicks have hatched in the nest. Trzcinka guarded them today. After gathering food, Przepiórek joined the family. He brought some hay to the nest and, unfortunately, a string as well. This is a very dangerous item not only for storks but also for other birds. Let's hope it doesn't harm our boćki....
From the parents' behavior, it is clear the first chick has hatched! The little stork was fed. We wait for more little ones....
Blissful peace in the nest as we wait for chicks. Storks are taking very good care of the eggs. They also don't forget about the nest decor and bring more sticks from time to time....
Eggs are here! At the moment, the exact number is unknown. Przepiórek and Trzcinka take turns incubating them, and while at it, they bring everything to the nest that might be useful in the hollow. Let's hope nothing disturbs the storks' peace!...
The storks spent Saturday and Sunday on intense nest expansion. After this renovation, time for a short rest!...
Storks spend time looking for food and return to the nest for the night. But they don't forget to rest during the day. A season full of challenges awaits them!...
Today we welcomed our storks, Przepiórek and Trzcinka, who arrived almost simultaneously. The storks did not wait long and ensured there would be offspring this season. Interestingly, shortly after arrival, Przepiórek caught Trzcinka by the neck in a rather unusual way. Fortunately, this situation did not repeat. The live feed issue is in progress and will likely be resolved by the end of this week. I will keep you updated on events from the nest on the website and the YouTube channel....
For a long time we have had a problem with the transmission caused by a change of internet provider. We hope that the problem will be resolved as quickly as possible and the broadcast will return before our stork pair arrives. During this time, the nest is still being recorded, and any news will be posted on the chat and on the YouTube channel....
