Time passes inexorably. More than two months have passed since we said goodbye to our storks. Now they are probably foraging along with other boćkami somewhere in Africa. We, on the other hand, can fully admire the beautiful Polish autumn. The trees take on spectacular colors, from deep green, through gold, to intense red. This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful moments in the entire year....
A day after Przepiórka's departure, our Trzcinka also decided to leave the nest in Trzciniec and set off on her long journey. The day after the first flights of Zefirek and Trzepcio, the time came for Lusia (K4626). At 11:16 AM, she took to the air, completing her first flight. This happened, however, somewhat by accident – startled by the sound of a passing tractor, like the rest of her siblings, she took off for flight. For a moment the nest was completely empty, but at 12:19 PM Lusia returned safely. Thus, all three Trzciniaczki have their first moments in the air behind them!...
Today in the morning in Trzciniec, a long-awaited moment occurred – the first flights of the young storks. At 7:38 AM, Zefirek (K4628) took to the air, and a minute later, at 7:39 AM, Trzepcio (K4627) joined him. Zefirek returned to the nest as early as 7:40 AM, while Trzepcio explored the area for definitely longer – he appeared in the nest again only at 3:57 PM. Today began peacefully – the morning and forenoon were marked by sun and routine stork activities. Today in the nest of Trzciniec storks, an important event took place – ringing of the young. Kamil Piwowarczyk put individual rings on the chicks. From the youngest to the oldest, they received numbers: K4626, K4627, and K4628. Thanks to them, it will be possible to follow the further fate of the Trzciniaczki – not only in Poland but also during their future migrations. Today in the Trzciniaczki nest, an important moment occurred – for the first time, the stork chicks were left alone. Until now, they had always been accompanied by at least one of the parents, and often both, especially at night. This is a new stage in their lives and a clear signal that the young are maturing. Yesterday we received news about a stork hit on the DK19 road. Subsequent findings revealed that it was one of the parents of a nearby nest in Baranówka, where three young had hatched. Fearing that the single parent might have difficulty feeding three sizable storks, we decided to help. Fortunately, the remaining three look healthy and are gaining weight fast. From day to day, we observe the rapid growth of the little ones, who will be preparing for the long journey in just a few months....
Today in the nest passed peacefully, like every day. The little ones received food quite regularly, however, observers noticed that among the food brought, large-sized snakes often appear. Such food can pose a threat to still small and delicate chicks.Unfortunately, probably for this reason, one of the young storks passed away – most likely it choked on too large a morsel. Today in Trzciniec it became clearly warmer – thermometers showed over 20°C, which is the first such warm day in many weeks. Trzcinka and Przepiórek do not cease in their careful care of their little ones – they feed them regularly, warm them, and watch over their safety. Today around 6 PM, the first chick of this season hatched in our nest! After long effort and breaking through the shell, it finally saw the world, and a moment later it got its first meal. A small hole is already visible in the second egg — it looks like more little ones are just around the corner. We wait with great joy!...
Easter Monday was warm and peaceful. According to calculations, a fourth egg appeared in the nest. Trzcinka laid it after 10:30 PM, so later than usual. The nest is expanded and prepared for breeding every day. It has already gained in size and looks much safer....

The storks exchanged duties, Przepiórek – as he has been in the habit of doing lately – took an evening trip around the area – and when darkness came, Trzcinka did not keep us in suspense and already at 8:27 PM laid the third egg. Last night at 9:54 PM, Trzcinka laid the first egg. Before this, she carefully prepared the place, loosening the lining and deepening the hollow. The conditions were not very favorable, as rain began to fall in the evening, accompanied by a light breeze. April 12th brought an improvement in the weather – the snow disappeared, the temperature rose, and the storks could spend a peaceful day. After many days of preparation, we managed to mount the camera at the new nest. The camera was mounted on a steel arm and connected to power and internet, and everything was properly secured. After erecting the new pole on the property intended for the stork nest, it was necessary to mount and prepare the platform so that the returning storks would have an inviting and encouraging place to settle. Thanks to the help of Kamil Piwowarczyk from the "Chance for a Stork" center, the operation went smoothly and professionally. After consultations with residents, we decided to move the stork nest to a safer and less burdensome place. Previously it was on an electrical pole, which created a threat to both young and adult storks. The new location will not only increase the birds' safety but also provide easier access in case of danger. Additionally, it will enable the installation of a camera directly by the nest, which will improve the monitoring and protection of Przepiórek and Trzcinka's family....
