Our stork pair this year, Przepiórek and Trzcinka, already had three eggs. Today we expected the fourth. Nothing foreshadowed the events that unfolded in our nest in the evening.

Unexpectedly, last year's Przepiórek, who had left the nest at the end of March, returned. His appearance led to a fight for the nest. It was a direct confrontation where strength and determination decided the outcome.

Ultimately, he took over the nest and stayed in it with the female for the night. All three eggs were thrown out because they did not belong to him. Such behavior is natural for storks and stems from their instinct.

Although such events can be difficult for many people to watch, it is worth remembering that this is a natural part of wild animal life. Storks are guided by instinct, which aims at survival and passing on genes. Such behaviors do not result from 'cruelty,' but are an element of the laws of nature that govern the natural world.
