On April 24, just before midnight, Trzcinka laid her sixth consecutive egg. Unfortunately, the male also threw it out of the nest. However, he did not expect the egg to stop in the crown of the nest. As soon as he left the nest, Trzcinka rolled it back into the hollow and began to incubate it.
Unfortunately, it didn't last long. A few hours later, Przepiórek returned and threw the egg out again, this time for good.
Such behavior stems from the instinct of storks. Storks are territorial animals and are strongly attached to their nests. Males often take over or maintain nests, driving away other individuals, even if they do not breed in them themselves. Removing eggs that are not theirs is part of this behavior and is related to the desire to pass on their own genes.
